Raimond Galicia is a senior at Towson University pursuing a degree in Music Education on tuba. A 2008 graduate of Great Mills High in St. Mary’s County, he was Low Brass section leader and Brass Captain. During this time, he has participated in WVU’s HS Honor Band, Tri-County Honor Band (SOMD), All County Jazz Band (St. Mary’s County) and All County Honor Band (St. Mary’s County). In his first two years at TU, he has played with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra with other TUMB members and performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. In the Spring of 2010, he traveled with Towson’s Symphonic Band to China to perform in Beijing and Shanghai.
Rai has been apart of the TU Marching Band, TU Concert Band, TU Pep Band, TU Symphonic Band, TU Symphonic Orchestra, TU Chorale, and TU Men’s Choir. He is frequently involved with Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Fraternity for College Band members. For the seasons of 2009 and 2012 he lead the sousaphones as a SMAC member and was a TUMB Drum Major in 2011 and 2012. Raimond returns this season with a new position as Student Assistant to the Director and is excited to have another year of involvement with the band and its 35th Anniversary.
